The site is located on a steep hill with view to the Kini beach, in Syros island. The landscape is characterized by the dense low vegetation and dry stone walling known as “kserolithies” that cross the site. The architectural study aims to maintain a big part of existing “kserolithies” as it is an element of the greek cultural heritage that dominates all the Cycladic landscape. Thus, the 4 residential buildings are based on the traces of “kserolithies” and divide the hill into levels. The main idea of the project Sto doma (On the terrace) was to preserve the green character of the hill and allow the vegetation and trees to enter the site. Therefore, the terraces of the houses welcome the vegetation of the hill making the housing complex totally integrated.
